Born in Budaun, Uttar Pradesh, Yogendra Ahuja made his literary debut with Cinema-Cinema published in the prestigious Hindi journal Pahal in 1991, launching an award-winning career.
His short stories are known for their innovative prose style, an examination of the human condition, and groundbreaking approach to form and structure. He has authored four collections: Andhere Mein Hansi (Bharatiya Jnanpith, 2004), Paanch Minute aur Anya Kahaniyan (Aadhar Prakashan, 2014), Laffaaz aur Anya Kahaniyan (Aadhar Prakashan, 2019), and Toot-te Taaron Tale (Navarun Prakashan, 2023). Several of his critically acclaimed stories like 'Marsia' (Lament), 'Galat' (The Wrong), 'Ek Purani Kahani' (An Old Story), 'Khana' (The Food), 'Laffaaz' (The Concocter), have been translated into various languages including English, Urdu, Marathi, Punjabi, and German; and have been widely adapted into plays and telefilms. He has been awarded the prestigious Katha Puraskar, Ramakant Memorial Award and Premchand Smriti Samman, among others.
Beyond his literary pursuits, Yogendra Ahuja maintains a passionate interest in world cinema, music, history, astronomy and philosophy.
